the human form on film

The Human Form on Film is a photo series that looks at the intersectionality of clothing and gender in today’s society. My collection of archival silver gelatin prints showcase a variety of ensembles - masculine, feminine, and androgynous. Furthermore, while these images look at the outfit, it features the models’ themselves. I highlighted the individual through techniques such as a hazy vignette and cropping of the images to emphasize their personhood. Furthermore, the posing and angles serve to communicate the masculine, androgynous, or feminine feel of the photos.

My decision to tackle the traditional perspective of the gender binary illuminates the performance of gender through clothing.
